About the beach

Porto Selvaggio is in the heart of the Porto Selvaggio e Palude del Capitano regional nature park. The bay has a small pebble beach surrounded by Aleppo pines; around it the coast is rocky shore, high in places. There are no beach clubs, just a small refreshment point. From the bay you get into the water easily over a sandy seabed that slopes gently, while on the left springs well up and make the sea cold and clear. To the north, among the rocks, there are more secluded coves.

You get there on foot: from Torre dell'Alto by a steep mule track of about 900 metres, from the coast road, or by the hillside path that starts from Torre Uluzzo. You will need comfortable shoes, and the nearest car park is a few hundred metres away. Along the coast are the bay of Uluzzo, which gave its name to the Uluzzian culture, and the Capelvenere cave. Protection rules apply in the park.

Nardò is a Blue Flag municipality. The bay faces south-west: with north (tramontana), north-east (grecale), east (levante), south-east (scirocco) and north-west (maestrale) winds it is sheltered, with south (ostro), south-west (libeccio) and west (ponente) winds the sea gets rough. It is part of the Torre Uluzzo Natura 2000 site.
