The name comes from that given to its inhabitants, the frascinari, a local word which refers to the stone chipping used to build houses and streets. Torre De li Frascinari in Carovigno is located a kilometre away from the coast, between Torre Santa Sabina and Villaggio Specchiolla, two kilometres away from Torre Morgicchio.
The building dates back to the late gothic period and has been deeply changed during the Aragon age. It has a circular shape topped with brackets and, on the side overlooking the sea, has a splayed window and an external staircase.
The entrance gate is characterised by a machicolation and an iron grille, while the main portal of the adjoining group of masserie (farmsteads) is topped by the coats of arms of the princes Dentice di Frasso, who were the owners.
