San Teodoro D’Amasea

In November, Torrepaduli, a hamlet of Ruffano, celebrates San Teodoro d'Amasea with a day full of devotion and tradition. The Sagra della castagna features roasted chestnuts, peasant cuisine dishes and typical sweets accompanied by new wine. In the center of the village, the lighting of the "focareddha" illuminates the square and inaugurates the Palio di San Teodoro, a culinary competition between the three historic districts who compete with traditional recipes, especially with the "nturtijatu", a sweet filled with quince jam. The evening continues from 9 pm with music and tambourine: a special round pays tribute to deceased tambourine players, while the celebration comes alive with pizziche and stornelli.
