About the beach
Tricase Porto is a small village on the last spurs of the Salento's low ridges. The stretch also includes the Serra del Mito, north of the harbour, overlooked by the Torre del Sasso 116 metres above the sea: over five kilometres of low, rocky coast, with caves and small free inlets. There are no beach clubs; alongside the natural coves there are two small harbours, one old and one modern, from which boats set out.
Just north of the village, following the 'passeggio degli dei' (walk of the gods), is the Isola, an islet you can reach in a few strokes and loved by children; the low rocks slope gently into the water. Towards Leuca is the Canale del Rio, at the bottom of which, according to legend, lie the bells of a church built by the devil in a single night. The coast is in the Costa Otranto-Santa Maria di Leuca e Bosco di Tricase regional nature park. It is part of the Costa Otranto - Santa Maria di Leuca and Bosco Guarini Natura 2000 sites.
The car parks are close to the harbour. The coast faces east: with north (tramontana), south (ostro), south-west (libeccio), west (ponente) and north-west (maestrale) winds it is sheltered, with north-east (grecale), east (levante) and south-east (scirocco) winds the sea gets rough. Tricase is a Blue Flag municipality.
