About the beach
Torre Specchia Ruggeri is a stretch of over three kilometres north of San Foca, as far as Masseria Nuova. It is mostly cliff, with just over a kilometre of sand divided into coves that follow one another along the coast, some free and others with facilities. About three quarters of the seafront are free and there are two beach clubs; one offers a bar and services for children.
The beach is open to the winds and is popular in every season with surfers, kitesurfers and windsurfers. The sandy coves are fine for children too, while getting into the water from the rock calls for care and water shoes.
The nearest car park is almost a kilometre away: allow for a walk. The coast faces north-east: north (tramontana), north-east (grecale) and east (levante) winds make the sea rough and bring in the surfers, while with south-east (scirocco), south (ostro), south-west (libeccio), west (ponente) and north-west (maestrale) winds it is sheltered. Melendugno is a Blue Flag municipality.
