About the beach
At Torre Rinalda the coast is all sand: almost four kilometres of beach, backed along its entire length by a ridge of dunes. More than four fifths of the seafront are free and there is only one beach club. Near the shore the water is shallow, suitable for children too.
The beach lies within the Bosco e paludi di Rauccio regional nature park, the last remnant of the great system of woods and marshes that once stretched along the coast between Brindisi and Lecce. Behind the dunes are ponds, the short course of the Idume and a dense holm oak wood with mastic and myrtle. Protection rules apply in the park: respect the dunes and vegetation. It is part of the Rauccio Natura 2000 site.
The car parks are close to the sand. The beach faces almost due north: with east (levante), south-east (scirocco), south (ostro), south-west (libeccio) and west (ponente) winds it is sheltered, while north (tramontana), north-east (grecale) and north-west (maestrale) winds make the sea rough. Lecce is a Blue Flag municipality.
