About the beach

Spiaggiabella is a sandy beach about two kilometres long, backed by dunes for much of its length. Over 90% of the seafront is free: the two beach clubs take up barely a hundred metres. If you are looking for space on the sand you will find it, children included.

The beach is part of the Bosco e paludi di Rauccio regional nature park, with the holm oak wood and the ponds behind the dunes less than a kilometre away. Towards Torre Chianca the Idume river makes its way through the dunes to the sea, where the water is colder because of the freshwater springs. Protection rules for the dunes and vegetation apply in the protected area. It is part of the Rauccio Natura 2000 site.

The nearest car park is a few hundred metres away, so allow for a short walk. The coast faces north-east: with south-east (scirocco), south (ostro), south-west (libeccio), west (ponente) and north-west (maestrale) winds it is sheltered, with north (tramontana), north-east (grecale) and east (levante) winds the sea gets rough. Lecce is a Blue Flag municipality.
