About the beach

In front of the Rosa Marina holiday village, built in the 1960s with its small white villas, the coast alternates beaches of fine sand, backed by dunes and Mediterranean scrub, with stretches of low rocks. The beachfront is largely free, with a few small stretches with facilities.

The area has been inhabited since ancient times: a nearby site shows traces of human presence from the Neolithic to the Iron Age. The coast has been under landscape protection since 1975. It is part of the Litorale Brindisino Natura 2000 site. The wind that blows along this stretch draws windsurfers and kitesurfers, and nearby there are bars, restaurants, campsites and hotels.

The seabed is sandy and slopes gently, easy for families with children; on the rocks you will need water shoes. The car parks are a short distance away. The dunes are fragile and the coast is subject to erosion. The beach faces north-east: with north (tramontana), north-east (grecale) and east (levante) winds the waves roll in, with south-east (scirocco), south (ostro), south-west (libeccio), west (ponente) and north-west (maestrale) winds the sea calms down.
