About the beach

Between the village of Marina di Lizzano and Torre Ovo opens a long beach with no precise name: over three kilometres of pale, soft sand, with a few short stretches of rock. Almost the whole beachfront is free and there are hardly any beach clubs; the seabed is sandy and slopes gently, easy for swimming and suitable for children.

Behind it, along its whole length, runs a system of dunes covered in Mediterranean scrub, with large-fruited juniper, broken in places by small marshes and woods of pine and holm oak. The very pale sand gives the water Caribbean glints, especially on days with a north wind (tramontana).

There are few car parks, a short distance from the beach. With hardly any beach clubs, bring shade and water. The coast faces south-south-west: with north (tramontana), north-east (grecale), east (levante) and even south-east (scirocco) winds the sea stays calm, while with south (ostro), south-west (libeccio) and west (ponente) winds it gets rough. The beach is affected by erosion: do not trample the dunes.
