About the beach
Campo di Mare is the seaside district of San Pietro Vernotico, on the Adriatic coast between Cerano and Torre San Gennaro. The beach is sandy, divided into sections by coastal defence works and closed off in places by low cliffs; in all it is almost four kilometres long. Most of the beachfront is free, with three beach clubs, one of which has reserved parking for people with disabilities.
About two kilometres away, towards Brindisi, is the Bosco di Cerano reserve, the last remnant of the ancient coastal forest, with holm oaks, elms and hop hornbeams. To the south you reach Torre San Gennaro, the seaside district of Torchiarolo, with long stretches of sand alternating with rocks.
The nearest car park is a few hundred metres away. The beach is suitable for families. The coast is subject to erosion. It faces north-east: north (tramontana), north-east (grecale) and east (levante) winds make the sea rough, while with south-east (scirocco), south (ostro), south-west (libeccio), west (ponente) and north-west (maestrale) winds you are sheltered.
