The menhir Montevergine is next to the namesake Sanctuary on the serra (upland) of Palamariggi, which has always been a destination for devotees and pilgrims.
The Pietrafitta is 1.90 metres high and comes out from a stone block on the right of the holy building. Despite the passing of time, also thanks to restoration works, it still keeps its ancient fascination. There are some engravings and on the flat part there is a hole, where probably there used to be a cross.
The scholar Cosimo De Giorgi registered it at the end of the 19th century, but the dimensions were others: 2.45 metres.
