Granafei Castle in Cannole, was built in a strategic position to protect the town from invasions, with a 360° view over the surrounding land.
It was changed into noble palace in 1583, when barons of family Personè arrived, but they did not strongly modified its architecture. The imposing scarp walls, with other elements typical of the military architecture, testify to the first defensive use of the building. There are also other elements, evidence of the noblemen, such as those on the façade, where there is an elegant decorated window topped by a coat of arms.
Granafei family bought it in 1747 and made several changes, such as a new wing and a wonderful garden with fountain called “belvedere”, which bears the coat of arms of Granafei family.
