Grotta Grande del Ciolo (or Bocca del Pozzo)

A hundred metres away from the famous bay with the same name, a  cove of pebbles between the banks of the ravine sloping toward the sea, the cave  Grotta Grande del Ciolo is characterized by a beautiful entry at sea level and by big rooms formed after a collapse.

The impressive entrance of the fascinating cave, more than 30 metres high, leads into the cave from which, after the huge collapsed rocks, it is possible to reach the long inside tunnel and a nice small lake, the result of a water source, with emerald reflections. Here, it is really easy to see local divers diving from the high bridge above the cave into the water.

Besides the fascinating natural landscape, the cave has also a high historical value, from a paleontological point of view, since they have found sediments of the late and middle Pleistocene.

Another cave opens up on the left edge of the narrow Ciolo fiord, the Grotta Piccola del Ciolo (small Cave), connected to the sea, about 120 metres deep and full of water in length.
