Church of the Most Holy Crucifix

Located in the historic center of Gallipoli, the Church of the Most Holy Crucifix has been the seat of the Confraternity of the same name since 1750. It is distinguished by bright colors, enhanced by the reflections of the sea on which it overlooks.\n\nInside, a profusion of sacred images, statues, and valuable paintings welcomes visitors. On the facade, the majolica depicting the miraculous translation of the painting of the Blessed Virgin of Good Counsel stands out.\n\nIn addition to the precious baroque works, the interior features a splendid choir in local walnut wood, which runs along the entire perimeter of the structure, giving it an atmosphere of ancient preciousness. The stalls are also notable, with their high Gothic-style backs bearing plaques with the ancient titles of the administrative roles of the confratelli. Gothic elements recur in the presbytery and the large pulpit.\n\nThe small church preserves the pieces and statue that compose the unique procession of the Mysteries and the \"Tomb\" on Good Friday.
