Spongano boasts two megalithic monuments in its area, one in the town centre, the other inside an olive grove in the surrounding countryside.
The Menhir Osanna used to be nearby the central piazza Vittoria (Vittoria square), but nowadays it is in via Giuseppe Garibaldi, on a base with steps. It is 291 centimetres high and since 1607 it has been a votive column, as written on one of its side. At the top stands an iron cross.
The Dolmen Piedigrandi is in the countryside along the Pastine country road. It was discovered in the 30s by Paolo Graziosi and Pasquale De Lorentiis and has a quadrangular slab used as cover, sustained by two monoliths and a rocky rise in the back part.
