About the beach

Marina di Ginosa lies on the western coast of the Gulf of Taranto, not far from the border with Basilicata. This stretch runs from the Pineta Regina to the mouth of the Bradano: over four kilometres of wide, soft, golden sand, backed by dunes for much of its length. About 70 per cent of the beachfront is free, and along the rest numerous beach clubs follow one another.

The sandy seabed slopes gently: swimming is safe, you can swim for a long way and it is suitable for children. Inland, the pine woods, which are part of the Pinete dell'Arco Ionico Natura 2000 site, offer shade in the hottest hours; in the evening the seafront comes alive.

There are plenty of car parks a short distance away in the area. Some beach clubs list boardwalks, a JOB chair and reserved parking. Facing south-east, it is sheltered with north (tramontana), north-east (grecale), north-west (maestrale), south-west (libeccio) and west (ponente) winds; with east (levante), south-east (scirocco) and south (ostro) winds the sea gets rough. The coastline is affected by erosion. Ginosa is a Blue Flag municipality.
