About the beach

Lido Azzurro is a Taranto beach on the coast north-west of the city, towards Marina di Ferrara and Massafra. It is about two kilometres of sand, with no rocks and no beach clubs: the beachfront is entirely free and the water is shallow, suitable for children. Behind it there is still a stretch of dunes.

As there are no beach clubs, bring a sunshade, water and whatever you need for the day. Compared with other beaches in the area, erosion here is low. Continuing west you reach Marina di Ferrara, with dunes and Mediterranean scrub and a long free beach.

The nearest listed car park is about a kilometre away: allow for a walk. The beach faces south-south-west: with north (tramontana), north-east (grecale), east (levante) and south-east (scirocco) winds the sea is calm, while with south (ostro), south-west (libeccio) and west (ponente) winds the waves roll in. It is part of the Pinete dell'Arco Ionico Natura 2000 site.
