Museum of Peasant Culture of Salento

The ethnographic section of the Civic Museum of Giuggianello is dedicated to peasant culture and was realized with contributions from many families in the town, who donated tools of agricultural work, utensils from ancient trades, and old memorabilia.

Among the collections, displayed on the ground floor, one can review textiles, everyday objects that tell the story of the town.

The vestibule welcomes several special items such as clay pipes, notebooks, inkwells from a school that no longer exists, while the corridor houses agricultural work tools and in a subsequent room you can admire a bedroom from the early 1900s.

The room dedicated to Nicola Cesari, one of the first curators of the museum, illustrates the trades of the past: from the weaver to the laundress, from the barber to the potter, while the blacksmith has an entire room reserved for him.
