Chiesa rupestre di Santa Barbara

The church is located within the Giardino Vestita, named after a famous ceramicist, and was discovered only in 2008 during garden renovation works. Access to the church is via a staircase leading to a single space along the perimeter wall with three painted apses.\n\nThe apses are framed within three arches resting on small twisted columns carved in rock. On the ceiling, above the altar, there is a relief cross inscribed in a circle.\n\nThe saints depicted in the side apses are San Nicola and Santa Barbara, while in the center there is a Blessing Christ. Finally, along the perimeter wall bordering the apse, alongside San Nicola there is a series of cubic holes of uncertain purpose.
