Historical and Archaeological Museum of the Olive Oil and Wine Civilization

Housed in the ancient spaces of Massafra's medieval castle, overlooking the Gravina San Marco, the Civic Historical and Archaeological Museum of the Olive Oil and Wine Civilization was inaugurated in 2003, together with the municipal library.\n\nA visit to the collection offers an intriguing immersion into the agricultural life of the past, among everyday objects, traditional tools, and testimonies of rural activities from the 1500s to the early 1950s.\n\nAmong the utensils and tools on display, the most characteristic are a 16th-century press and an 18th-century oil mill with three millstones, while since 2005 the permanent exhibition “The Workshop of the Carradore or Master of the Axe” has been on display.
