Considered one of the largest museum complexes in Italy, the Mudi (Diocesan Museum) is set up in the former Archiepiscopal seminary of Taranto, in the heart of the historic centre, just a stone's throw from the Cathedral. The peculiar building structure, a courtyard block enclosed on all sides, leads to the discovery of two different aspects, from architecture to the content, the Diocesan Museum itself. Arranged on four levels, the museum displays more than 300 artworks which walk the visitor through the ecclesiastical and religious history of the province from the 7th to the 20th century, through sacred furniture, relics, sculptures and paintings of exceptional cultural value, such as the ''Assumption of the Virgin Mary'' attributed to Domenico Carella, or the precious ''Ecce Homo'' by Paolo De Matteis.
