The area of Scorrano has been inhabited since the past, as the two menhirs, La Cupa 1 and La Cupa 2 show, which stand in the surrounding countryside.
The menhir La Cupa 1 stands in the periphery of Scorrano, along the Specchiulla country road, at the intersection with via Pietro Micca. Giovanni Palumbo registered it in 1953 in the same place where it is nowadays, set into a drystone wall in the plot of land Cupa. The menhir has several engravings and four cross on its sides.
Also the Menhir Cupa 2 is in the periphery of the town, along the Nacrilli country road, at the corner of the Abate country road. Palumbo described it as “late”, that is to say dating back to the Middle Ages, both for the regular sides and for the traditional orientation of these types of monoliths, with don’t have and orientation.
