The Urban Ecomuseum

Botrugno’s Urban Ecomuseum is a dynamic building, where you can discover the territory through the senses and a first-hand experience. Preserving and safeguarding its natural and artistic heritage, means making the local people familiar with their own land.

Among the cultural landmarks of the area, are the Church of San Salomo, a fascinating example of rural architecture, located along the provincial road 63 Botrugno-Sanarica, on the outskirts of the small Salentinian town.

Many initiatives organized by Leb (Botrugno Ecomuseal Laboratory), involving the community, have been launched from this symbolic place: from the cataloguing of medicinal and aromatic herbs to nature excursions, along with workshops dedicated to the enhancement of Salento’s traditional cuisine through the preparation of typical local dishes following ancient recipes.
