Most of the stones which have shaped most of Salento's beautiful Baroque architectural gems comes from Cursi. The small town near Maglie, represents one of the largest quarries of Lecce stone.
The ecomuseum of the Cursi stone plays a major role in reviving and enhancing the culture of the stone: extraction and processing techniques, implementation methods also through workshop activities.
The ecomuseum houses a gallery of stone artifacts, designed by famous architects or local enterprises, which stretches deep into the underground oil mill. In addition to the guided tours of the quarries and the old town, the museum also makes available a descriptive video of the territory on the origins, geological and geomorphological features of the landscapes.
