The Doctor of the Mad

A wealthy couple arrives in Naples to visit their nephew, convinced he has opened a psychiatric clinic. In reality, the young man, overwhelmed by gambling debts, lives in a modest boarding house passed off as a care home. A whirlwind of misunderstandings and strange encounters ensues, blurring the line between reason and madness. The story takes place in the early 1980s, shortly after the Basaglia Law that closed the asylums. In this period of reform and uncertainty, the characters experience a fragility that makes them more vulnerable, thinning the line between normality and "madness" and making it even more comic.
