Dolmens and menhirs are very few along the Ionian coast, but the area of Racale boasts two really important settlements.
The Dolmen Ospina is located along the namesake street, in the periphery of the town, a few metres away from the fortified tower of the 16th century. The megalithic has partly collapsed: the upper slab indeed has collapsed inside, while one of the pillars is a monolith and the other three consist of piled up stones.
On the hill between Racale and the sea, one can admire the Specchia Li Specchi, a typical construction with the shape of an inverted cone, made of a mound of stones, probably dating back to the Neolithic period. Even if the specchia is partly ruined, it is possible to see its circular shape and the ruins of an external staircase, which led to the top of it, from which one could roam the gaze from Gallipoli to Ugento and, towards the hinterland, admire the entire surrounding plain.
