The Awakening in the Dark Room and Other Unpublishes from the Cahiers

The Biblioteca Bernardini in Lecce hosts the presentation of the volume “The Awakening in the Dark Room and Other Unpublishes from the Cahiers,” which collects unpublished texts from the notebooks of Marcel Proust. The event takes place on 10 October 2026 at 6:30 pm and offers an immersion into the creative laboratory of the French writer. Through fragments, drafts, and variations, the book guides the reader to the genesis of In Search of Lost Time, revealing the text’s transformations before its final form. The theme of awakening—physical, psychological, and spiritual—becomes the guiding thread of a writing in continuous metamorphosis, where the narrator moves between mutable rooms and overlapping times. The presentation, curated by Sabrina Martina, features participation from experts on Proustian themes.
