Schloss Giustiniani

Born as an impregnable fortress in the era of raids, the Giustiniani Baroque Palace in Caprarica di Lecce now displays the architectural whims loved by the nobles of that time.\n\nBuilt on the foundations of a Norman-era fortified structure, the building was remodeled by the Guarino barons, but it was the Giustiniani family who substantially altered its structure and gave it the appearance of an elegant stately home.\n\nThus, Rococo curves and elegant balconies emerge, which, even before crossing the threshold, hint at what life might have been like for the lords of the seventeenth century. Parties and balls made the Hall of Mirrors, furnished with 17th and 18th century furniture and a precious art collection, the room where time seemed to stand still.\n\nThe manor also has a dark soul. Legend has it that, when needed, the room equipped with a trapdoor, \"trabuccu\", which opened onto a well with spears planted at the bottom pointing upwards, would come in handy.
